Hutto, Texas is 22 miles NE of Austin and offers a big-city experience with a small-town quality of life. It offers many attractions for the entire family.

Stroll through Old Town, the original boundaries for the City of Hutto. Many historic homes have been restored and are examples of the small Swedish farming community that established the town in 1911. Old Town also has a great collection of unique restaurants and shops within the Hutto Commercial Historic District. Everything is close by and easily accessed on foot or by car.

Hutto was named for James Emory Hutto (1824-1914) but is known for hippos because, as story as it, once upon a time a circus came to town. One of their beloved hippos escaped but was soon found in a nearby creek. Thus starting the tradition of hippos and why you'll see the concrete hippos all over town.

Hutto is home to award-winning independent school district. Click here for information on Hutto School ISD
